Fishing at the Peninsula Cottages marina and River Bure

A new young angler.

Fishing starts just outside your cottage door.   You can fish from the garden or your private mooring.  So even if you have young fishers they can be supervised from within the cottage. The water is only about 3ft to 5ft around the cottage so is relatively safe, but please make sure all your party are familiar with the first few pages of our cottage manual concerning water safety.  Most youngsters fish by float fishing using a variety of baits including maggots, sweetcorn or cheese and easily catch roach and perch; this young lad catching on his first fishing, and photographed just outside the cottage.  Not the best colours to wear if trying to hide from fish.  The nearest maggots can be found at a machine alongside the Launderette and Canoeman shop just a 5 minute walk away

Perfect family holiday.  Teens love it!

Fish with freedom to roam all around the Peninsula marina. The cottage owner took this picture of this young man when he caught this pike, by spinning with a rubber lure within the Peninsula marina inlet. You can fish from any where around the Peninsula Estate, including 100 m of River Bure bank and inlets into the main marina, and within the marina area.  Best places change with weather and time of year. Go explore!

Pike Anglers Club of Gt. Britain

The Pike Angler's Club of Gt Britain have sometimes rented several cottages and made up fishing parties who come from all over the country to compete, and compare catches over a pint in the on-site pub in the evenings.

Membership is available to individual adults and family membership and also a junior's (under 18) membership.

Some catches are awesome.

Don't worry! not all the fish are pike.  This one looks like it could eat the young man that caught it.  Roach, rudd, tench, carp and perch can also be caught, using float fishing, ledgering or spinning.
